King's Pupil Helps set New World Record

King’s star swimmer, pupil Reece Grady, helped set a new swimming World Record with help from a few high-profile friends.

On Saturday 4 May, Reece was part of a team of 100 swimmers at Stockport Grand Central Swimming Pool who set a new World Record for the fastest swimming relay, with 100 swimmers each completing 50m as part of the relay. The team included double Olympic Champion Rebecca Adlington, Triple Commonwealth Medallist James Goddard and another 6 International Swimmers.

They successfully smashed the previous record of 46 minutes 38 seconds, by over 3 minutes, in a time of 43 minutes 32 seconds. Reece completed his 50m leg in 26.7 seconds.

The Guinness World Record attempt was organised by swimming coach Harry Needs, 27, to raise funds for the mental health charity, Mind. So far, £3,222 has been collected through their fundraising page: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fund…/showROFundraiserPage…
