Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. We are delighted that you are considering King’s for your son or daughter.
The following pages will provide you with an overview of the admissions process and answer many of the questions you may have at this stage. Our Admissions Department is happy to advise further; please feel free to contact us directly, request more information or arrange to come and visit us.
Many families liken choosing a school to choosing a house: it has to feel right. We recommend that prospective families come and look round King’s and see first-hand what makes us so special. We hold a number of Open events for this purpose - for details please see Visiting King's.
After visiting, we recommend registering your son or daughter for a place in their appropriate year group. Following this, you may wish to visit us again for a mid-week Tour or attend a Taster Day prior to your child sitting the Entrance Assessment.
King’s is a selective school and the admissions procedure is designed to ensure that pupils will respond to and enjoy a challenging academic curriculum. All candidates, with the exception of King’s Infants (children aged 3 – 7 years) are required to sit an Entrance Assessment.
For entry to the infants, children are not formally assessed and places are offered in order of application, however children may be invited in to be observed in class.
Our own Junior pupils who joined King's prior to the start of Year 5 are not required to sit the 11+ Entrance Examination and are offered assessed places for the Seniors.
If successful in the Entrance Assessment, an offer of a place at King’s will be made and this will need to be formally accepted and a deposit paid in order to secure the place. Depending on the time of joining King’s and year group of entry, subsequent familiarisation activities such as welcome evenings and taster afternoons will usually be offered prior to starting at King’s.
Please use the menu on the left to navigate to more information about joining our different Divisions.
Admissions for every age group are handled through our Admissions Department. As arrangements vary depending on the age of your child, we recommend that you get in touch with us so that we can explain the procedures to you.
