      Bursaries

King's provides a number of bursaries each year for pupils applying for admission into Year 7 and Year 12 (Sixth Form). All bursaries are means-tested and are based on both parents' income and assets. As a general guide, households with a gross annual income of less than £50,000 would typically qualify for financial assistance with fees. The level of award may cover from 10% up to 100% of school fees and will be determined by both parental need (means-testing) and school funds available, but a strong academic performance in the Entrance Examination is also required. A bursary can stand alone or supplement Scholarships.

      11+ Bursaries

Detailed financial information is required to support a bursary application and an applicant will need to complete a KSB1 form in advance of the Entrance Examination. A home visit will also be undertaken. All information is, of course, kept strictly confidential.

Each award is assessed on an individual basis and is reviewed annually in the light of changes in parental circumstances. The award is tenable throughout the holder’s career in the Senior School subject to good conduct and progress.
Bursaries are awarded in February, for entry to the school the following September. The deadlines for bursary applications is the beginning of January (prior to the 11+ Entrance Examination).

Please note that the number of applications for bursaries always exceeds the funds available.

      Sixth Form Bursaries

King’s offers a number of means-tested bursaries for external applicants to our Sixth Form. Our Quincentenary Bursary Scheme (QBS), which was formed in 2002, has helped fund more than 50 pupils to attend our Sixth Form. In addition, we have a small number of other bursaries dedicated to funding Sixth Form places (see below).

All applicants will need to complete a KSB1 form prior to the end of November (of Year 11). Detailed financial information is required to support a bursary application and a home visit will be undertaken. All information is kept strictly confidential and candidates must also show strong academic potential in their GCSE results. Each award is tenable for the two years of Sixth Form, subject to good conduct and progress. Awards are reviewed annually in the light of changes in parental circumstances.

All applicants will be considered in terms of their financial need, academic potential and ability to contribute to the school in other areas such as sport and/or music.
