Delia’s daring new book ‘How to Cheat’ might have left Britain’s food police fuming, but fundraisers in the King’s Sixth Form see it as a recipe for success.
They have put together a special food hamper using ingredients from Delia Smith’s tinned and packet food hit list for a raffle for Help the Aged.
Fundraiser Rebecca explained: “How to Cheat” might not have been the food critics’ best loved book, but we think it’s a great idea showing busy working parents how to cook quality dishes, quickly and easily.”
Delia’s hamper raffle, which includes standbys such as tinned crab paste, wild salmon and organic orange jelly has raised over £500 for Help the Aged, swelling the fundraisers’ total to four figures.
Fellow organiser Martin said: “We have had to dream up a number of ideas such as cake sales, a chocolate tombola, an Easter Egg hunt and a sponsored quiz, but the Delia idea really caught the imagination.”
King’s Sixth Form Vice Principal Ruth Roberts said: “I am just delighted that these young people volunteered to raise money for Help the Aged and that it brings together both spectrums of the population.
