Outstanding Junior Sports results

King’s Juniors sports stars are in seventh heaven having enjoyed a golden year of sport winning local, regional and national championships and achieving podium places in an astonishing seven sports.

Junior Division Principal Geoff Shaw believes King’s Juniors currently has the finest set of all-round sporting youngsters since the school went co-educational in 1993.

The cricket team are currently waiting to play the semi-final of the Association of Junior Independent Schools North-West tournament featuring all the top teams in the region.

In cross-country King’s Juniors won the Macclesfield Primary Schools’ Year 3/4 Girls and Y5/6 Boys’ and Girls’ titles and were AJIS U11 Boys’ Champions, while the athletics team won the Macclesfield Primary School title for Boys and Combined teams, with Hollinhey winning the Girls’ section.

The footballers won the Macclesfield Primary Schools 1A and 1B divisions and were third in the Ciba Sevens.

The Netball squad lifted the Macclesfield Primary Schools’ Division 1 trophy and shared the cup with Upton Priory. The Rugby boys were runners-up in AJIS Cup only losing after extra-time to Kirkham. The Swimming team were Macclesfield Primary Schools’ Champions, while the Trampolining squad were superb silver medalists in the National Schools Championships.

Mr Shaw said: “As well as producing some stunning results, the children have been a pleasure for all our coaches to work alongside and as they get older they should help to produce more great results in King’s Boys’ and Girls’ Divisions.”
