Great A Level results, year on year

Our 2016 A Level grades equalled our best ever and showed a continuation of excellent results. Of the 124 students in Year 13:

· Over 50% of grades were A* / A (national average 26%)

· 80% of grades were A* – B

· 22% of all grades were at A*

· 50 students achieved AAA or better

· a incredible 10 students achieved A*A*A* or better

· 3 students received 4 A*s or above

· 50 students achieved the top A* grade in at least one subject

· The A – C pass rate is 95% (national average of 76%)


Our incredible results have put King's in The Times Top 120 Schools for A Level results. An impressive 6 students gained offers of places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, which have the toughest admissions procedures of all universities. 70% of students achieved their first choice of university and 60% joined Russell Group universities.

Students go on to study a very wide-range of subjects at universities, conservatoires and institutions in the UK and USA. In 2016, 6 students are going on to study Chemical Engineering and one to do Engineering; 8 are off to study the curative subjects of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and nursing; 4 are going on to study Law; 40 students will study science-related courses; 10 are going on to study arts-related courses including Art, Architecture, Animation, Fashion, Music, Graphic Design and Filmaking; around 25 students will study Economics/Business-related courses and several students are going to study language-based courses, including French, Spanish, English and Classics. At least 10 students are going to study Psychology, with around 10 going to do Geography, Geology or Palaeontology.




From our Early Years Foundation Stage right through our junior and senior divisions, our results continue to be stunningly good. In 2016, King's GCSE results were amongst the best in the region. Of the 150 students in Year 11:


· 84 students achieved the top A* grade in one or more subjects

· 66 students achieved 9 As and better

· 11 students achieved 9 A*s and better, and

· 31 pupils achieved at least 5 A*s

· 6 students achieved an A^ (an A* with distinction) in Further Maths

The outstanding results showed:

· a quarter of all grades were at A*

· around 60% of all grades were at A*/A and

· 85% of grades were A* – B
