In September, we welcomed 16 girls and two staff members to King’s all the way from Kinross Wolaroi School in New South Wales, Australia.
The King’s girls arrived back from a National Schools Tournament to meet the visiting party, all of whom were hosted by the King’s players for two nights. Going by the Australian reactions on the groupings.
On Thursday after a fun day in Chester shopping and looking at the Roman ruins, the King’s Senior squad played a fixture against the touring Australian side at the Westminster Road astroturf. This was an exciting game to watch and was played under blue skies and sunshine. Both teams displayed some great hockey, with Kings clinching a 6-3 win.
Post-match, King’s Senior Hockey Captain Allana Buckingham exchanged memorabilia with the Kinross visitors and thanked them all for such a wonderful experience. It was evident that some amazing life-long friends have been made in a short time and I’m sure they will all be missed by the King’s girls. Both the Kinross and King’s pupils were an absolute credit to their schools.
Thank you to the King’s families that hosted the girls, it is very much appreciated by the school and of course the visitors and it couldn’t have happened without you. We wish Kinross Wolaroi School all the best for their remaining time in the UK and a safe journey back down under.
