Girls from years 7 – 11 had great fun in the Resource Centre on Thursday 26 January as the houses took part in yet another highly competitive house event – the inter-house maths challenge. The competition ran a bit like a relay: the first girl from each house ran to a central table to grab their first question and returned to the team in order to solve the card. After finding the answer, another member rushed back to the table to grab a new question and give it to the other half of their team. As we worked intently to beat the other houses, the maths teachers were carefully guarding the precious answer sheet and marking all of the cards, carefully covering up which house was in the lead. At the end of the 20 minute relay, we anxiously sat waiting for the scores to be added up and the winner revealed. In fourth place was Capesthorne with an excellent score of 139, in third was Tatton with 163 points, next came Gawsworth, only beating Tatton with 1 point at a score of 164, and for the first time this year, Adlington smashed the competition with the impressive score of 204 points. After the outcome of this event, who knows what will happen in the next competition!
