Drama Club Pantomime
Yr 7 – 9 boys’ Drama Club have had a Christmas spectacular success with their performance of ‘Cinders’, a snappy, half hour version of that well loved pantomime favourite. Audiences packed in to the Drama Hall before Christmas for two highly entertaining performances. Indeed the show was so successful that it went ‘on tour’ toFence Avenue (where a very appreciative Junior School audience lapped up the jokes), before returning to the Drama Hall to play one last time to appreciative parents and friends. The boys worked phenomenally hard throughout the term to come up with a show that was full of well choreographed silliness and chaos – including a surprise ending in which the lovely Cinders (played by Alex Rogan) manages to end up with not the handsome prince (Henry Strutt), but the love-struck adoring Buttons (Sam Brown). The ugly sisters, wonderfully executed by Ben Lynch and Aarian Mehrebani, carry off the helpless Prince’s advisor Dandini (Adam Garnett) whilst Lady Gaga loving Granny Grippington (Joe Laughton) manages to capture the forlorn Prince, much to the delight of Cinders’ nasty stepfather Lord Grippington (Maitre Patel) The prince’s parents – desperate to find any suitable bride for their wayward son – were regally interpreted by Henry McKenna (King) and Ieuan Sanders (Queen). The whole hectic saga was very eloquently narrated by John LeMoignan. Very special thanks must also go to yr10’s Alex Moore who spent endless hours as a highly efficient stage-manager, making and collecting props, organizing the boys’ costumes as well as running some of the rehearsals.
