Music at St Michael’s
Members of the Boys’ Division in the Jazz Band played in the regular “Music at Mike’s” concert held on Friday, 24 February at St. Michael’s Church, Macclesfield.
Conducted by King’s music tutor Kevin Dearden, the boys played five Jazz pieces which included ‘S’ Wonderball’ and ‘Lit’l’ Darlin’’: the latter was prepared and dedicated especially to commemorate the Golden Wedding Anniversary that day of the church’s two wardens.
A large audience enjoyed the performance and contributed with donations towards the East Cheshire Hospice – the last concert raised over £150.
Musicians included Alex Voysey (yr. 11, guitar), Henry Reavey (yr. 9, piano), Jamie Edgerton (yr. 10, saxophone) and Thomas Rheinberg (yr. 11, trumpet). They played alongside members of the Sixth Form and as well as members of staff.
Music at Mike’s is held at St Michael’s Church on Friday lunchtimes from 1pm on two occasions every month during term time. The concerts cover all types of music, from Jazz to classical Mozart. All visitors are welcome.
