King’s offers families a number of unique advantages:
A small school atmosphere in a large school
King’s has all the advantages of a large school, with fine buildings, sports facilities, an unrivalled range of extra-curricular opportunities, and the very best teaching staff. But we operate within four, smaller Divisions each with its own Principal, pastoral team and intimacy of a ‘small school’ within a school. Every single child is valued as an individual and their talents are nurtured. We pride ourselves on our exceptional pastoral care. Our pupils experience a friendly, small-school atmosphere with the support of an impressively large group of talented staff.
Tradition and Innovation
King's has never stood still: it has occupied 5 sites over its 516-year history. Our structure has reflected our location, first being a boys' school and then offering a diamond model after the opening of a Senior Girls' Division in 1993. However, King's has always combined its heritage with a willingness to innovate, to lead and to improve all aspects of what we do. From September 2020, King's will operate from a new, state-of-the-art campus on the outskirts of Macclesfield and Prestbury.
Academic and well-rounded
Our pupils do extremely well academically and our exam results are some of the best in the country. We challenge our pupils to aspire, work hard and achieve great results. But there is more to life than exam results: we want pupils to enjoy a well-rounded education and love learning, becoming ambitious individuals with the right skills and attributes to succeed. King’s offers a whole world of exciting opportunities from regular sporting, musical and cultural activities to exploring the highest peaks and volunteering in remote parts of the globe.
Space to grow and learn
King’s is fortunate to be located on extensive sites in rural Cheshire, on the edges of the Peak District, and yet only half an hour from Manchester.
Our large rural estates give children the space they need to learn and flourish. We make the most of our extensive outdoor sporting facilities, drama halls, ICT suites, gymnasiums, sports hall and even our own wildlife meadow. We also make the most of our local environment and use our fleet of minibuses to access the Lake District, North Wales, Peak District and Yorkshire.
As well as our two teaching sites at Fence Avenue and Cumberland Street, we have a further 23 acres of competitive sports pitches and a pavilion at our Derby Fields site. Combined with our two Astro pitches, cricket nets, netball and tennis courts, cricket field, rugby pitches and athletics tracks, our pupils have all the space and scope they need for a wide range of activities.
