Cricket

Cricket is the major summer sport for Junior and Senior boys and many girls. The school has up to 11 teams playing regularly every Saturday from U10 B up to 1st XI. The fixture list is demanding and tests the pupils against the best schools in the North West. King’s teams regularly reach AJIS, County Cup and regional finals and many pupils achieve County and District representative honours. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 King’s was named one of the Top 100 cricketing schools in the country based on the history, results and facilities at the school.

A team of dedicated games staff supported by expert coaches work hard with all the pupils during games lessons and after school. In 2018 the school appointed former Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire seamer and Level IV Coach, AJ Harris, to head up the coaching programme.

The new 1st XI cricket field is in a glorious setting in front of the main school building (an homage to our previous site) with further pitches for juniors and seniors, as well as outdoor nets and Cheshire's only dedicated indoor cricket centre - a three-lane indoor facility in our Sports Centre. We also have use of the two new floodlit all–weather facilities.

King's offers places on our KEAP - King's Elite Athlete Pathway - for Senior students (on entry to Year 7).
