Cross Country

Pupils take part in Cross Country in their games lessons and the annual Inter House Cross Country competitions takes place in the Autumn term for Years 7-9. Cross country is a great sport for building fitness and resilience and as such compliments all the other team sports that take place at school.

Pupils attend a weekly Running club during the Autumn and Spring terms which incorporates runs on the school fields and further afield.  Pupils are selected to compete in the Macclesfield and District Cross Country championships in November and also compete as Junior girls and boys (Years 7&8) and Inter Girls and Inter Boys (Years 9 & 10) teams in the ESAA Cross Country Cup competition held in Warrington.

Each year approximately 20 - 24 pupils have been selected to represent Macclesfield at the Cheshire Cross Country Championships in January. Over the years, several pupils have qualified further to represent Cheshire at Inter Counties Cross Country events and also ESAA National Schools Cross Country Championships in March.
