Hockey

Having recently celebrated 50 years of hockey at King’s, the sport continues to grow and thrive as a major sport. Two full-size, floodlit pitches give the school some of the best facilities in the North West. King’s boasts two superb floodlit AstroTurfs for both the boys and girls to use in Games lessons, extra-curricular practices and fixtures. The pitches are regularly used to host national age group training sessions as well as Gifted & Talented Workshops, due to the quality of the facility.

As well as the superb facilities, the school also benefits from a number of highly successful local and international coaches who are able to pass on their knowledge and expertise to the players. The school runs teams from 1st XI down to U10 and are regularly competing in the latter stages of regional and national competitions.

King’s pupils regularly achieve selection in regional representative hockey and the school has produced a number of exceptional players who play internationally and at the very highest level of club hockey. The school takes great pride in the fact that so many former pupils continue to play the game at all levels through their adult life.
