Celebrations & smiles on GCSE results day!

It has been a fantastic day of happy pupils and proud parents and staff, as pupils have opened their GCSE results. Months of hard work have paid off as pupils have received a stunning set of results:

  • 37% of all grades at 9/8 (A*)
  • Nearly 60% of all grades at 9-7 (A*-A)
  • Nearly 80% of grades 9-6 (A*-B)
  • A third of pupils got at least nine grades at 9-7 (A*/A)
  • 32 students achieved 10x 9-7s (A*/A)
  • A huge 70% of pupils got 9/8 (A*) in at least one subject

Head of Foundation, Mr Slack, said: "We are incredibly proud of this year's GCSE students. These results are the outcome of a huge amount of hard work from a talented group of pupils."

"The results continue the school’s sustained, upward trajectory of academic achievement. Our inspirational learning environment and innovative teaching have helped our young people to reach the highest academic standards, alongside their strength of character, resilience and wide range of interests. I look forward to welcoming this group of pupils back to our Sixth Form where, no doubt, they will go on to further success."

Amongst the high flyers are (from left)  hockey player and singer Jobin Joseph, who got nine 9s, one eight and one 7 and ultimately wants to study Medicine. Charismatic actor and musician, Will Gandy, who got nine 9s and one eight and ultimately wants to read Modern Foreign Languages. Scientist Chinmaya Aji, who got eight 9s and two 7s and wants to study Dentistry. Duke of Edinburgh award winner and qualified life guard Arabella Metcalfe, who got five 9s and five eights and, after her A Levels, wants to read Sustainability at St. Andrews. Super talented sportswoman Neave Stanway, who got five 9s and five 8s and is looking to earn a top student apprenticeship. U18 national water polo player Alexa Watkins, who got seven 9s, two 8s and one 7 and is a high flyer in King's champion trampoline and cheerleading squads. Great Britain Roller Hockey star Oliver Gotts, who got eights 9s and three 8s. Oliver, who will take Maths, Physics and Chemistry in the King's Sixth Form also plays Ice Hockey for Manchester Storm. Japanese language scholar Kieran Schwartz, who got seven 9s and three 8s. Kieran wants to apply to Cambridge to read Languages and work as a translator or teacher.

Maths Olympian Robb Thomas, who got six 9s, four 8s and one 7 and will study Maths, Further Maths, Computing and Physics and wants to apply to Oxford University to read Computer Science. Alexa Watkins, who got seven 9s, two 8s and one 7 and is member of the water polo team for Scotland U18.
