Former Pupils Pairing Hit New High

King’s 2022 leaver and Head Boy, Charlie Oakes, got in touch with us to share his latest incredible achievement, climbing Kilimanjaro with his good friend, also a King’s former pupil, Scarlett Brough.

Together, the brave pair took on the daunting seven-day task last month, trekking to Africa’s highest point, to raise money for The Brain Charity, which goes towards multiple causes close to their hearts.

The climb was both physically and mentally demanding, taking the duo seven days through rainforest, alpine desert, and finally to the summit at 5,895 metres, the highest point in Africa.

Scarlett and Charlie are fundraising for The Brain Charity, which helps people affected by over 600 different neurological conditions. The charity provides practical assistance, emotional support, social activities, and champions neurodiversity, working to improve lives for those affected by conditions of the brain, spine, and nervous system.

Charlie said: “Reaching the summit was an unforgettable moment, made even more meaningful knowing we were raising awareness and funds for such an important cause.”

With almost £4,000 raised so far, if you’d like to support Charlie and Scarlett’s fundraising efforts, donations can still be made here:  https://www.justgiving.com/team/scarlett21stkilimanjaro
