Infant & Junior Pupils Bring Stories to Life for World Book Day

World Book Day once again proved to be one of the most eagerly anticipated dates in the Infant & Junior calendar, filling the school with colour, creativity and excitement on Thursday 5th March. The Division buzzed with energy as pupils and all the staff dressed to become their favourite characters.

As ever, our teachers and support staff embraced the fun, wearing their own spectacular outfits and bringing an extra layer of magic to the day.

A highlight of this year’s activities was a special visit from author Sarah Morrell, who spent the day working with our younger pupils. Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 children were treated to interactive story time sessions, during which Sarah shared her latest picture book, Molly’s Magic Brolly. Our Junior pupils also had the chance to discover her debut chapter book, A Head Full of Magic, sparking excitement and leading to many readers taking home their own copies.

During the workshops, Sarah shared first-hand experience of the writing process and what it means to become an author. She gave the children tips, creative ideas and lots of encouragement to write their own stories.

From the author visit to the class-led activities, the day was made possible by Miss Costanda and all the staff, who worked so hard to put on such an engaging event. It was another wonderful opportunity for our Infant and Junior children to meet a real author who is passionate about encouraging children’s reading and creative writing skills. It was a memorable celebration of storytelling and imagination that will continue to inspire our young readers.
