King’s named in Top 10 Schools in the North West, and Top 3 in Cheshire

The latest survey of the country’s top schools is out, as The ParentPower League Table is published by The Times & Sunday Times.

For the third year running, King’s has been named amongst the region’s and Cheshire’s best independent schools for academic results. It comes as the UK’s highest-achieving schools are revealed in the 33rd edition of The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2026.

King's School Senior Science

Widely acknowledged as the most authoritative survey of the country’s top schools, the guide was published online at 7am today (Friday, December 5) and as a 28-page supplement on Sunday. As well as an assessment of academic results, Parent Power enables parents to compare the performance of a given school with other schools in the same area or nationally. The 2026 guide sees The King's School in Macclesfield maintain its position in the Top 8 secondary independent schools in the North West for the third consecutive year.

Head, Jason Slack said: “The academic results at King’s have been on an upward trajectory for several years now, and we are delighted to have this acknowledged in this well-read national guide. To maintain our position in the Top 10 in the region is testament to the commitment, hard work and high levels of aspiration from our students and staff. King’s prides itself on delivering a holistic education, in which academic attainment and personal growth are equally valued. These impressive academic results sit alongside similarly impressive outcomes in music, drama, sport and in the development of our students’ skills and character.”

Helen Davies, editor of The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide, said: "As well as celebrating the academic excellence of the top schools it is uplifting to see how they are shaping their students to be ready for the 21st century, and instilling a lifelong love of learning."

In the 2026 North West Top 10 independent secondary schools, King’s is ranked number 8, and is one of three schools in Cheshire featured.
