The King's School's netballers have bagged another stunning set of representative honours at the start of season.
An amazing 10 hotshots have impressed top franchise and county selectors with the King’s School fast becoming a national centre of excellence, not only for netball but for girls' sport. Fantastic new facilities and a depth of professional coaching talent have allowed the success hungry girls to realise their full potential.
Clinical goal shooter and King’s first team Captain Bea Worlock is in the newly formed Nottingham Forest Netball Club U19 pathway. Resolute defensive queen-pin Minnie Farooq and fellow defender and play-setter Hattie Usher have both been selected for the Birmingham Panthers U19 pathway.
Strategic playmaker Esme Sutton has been selected for the Cheshire U17 squad. Incisive pass-master Lottie Baxter has made the Manchester Thunder U15 squad while speed merchant Lola Bianchi has been selected for the Greater Manchester U15 pathway.
Intelligent playmaker Eva Sheppard, who covers the court superbly, is in the Cheshire U15 pathway. Multi-talented defender and wing attack Faye Haines is on the Birmingham Panthers under-14 pathway with the strategic mastermind Orla Nash selected for both the Cheshire U15 academy and the Manchester Thunder U13 squad. The youngest player is Clara Stead (pictured left) who can play in any position and is now on the Staffordshire County Pathway.
King's and Cheshire Netball Coach Phil Owen said: "This is a fantastic achievement for all 10 players, and represents many hours of committed training and hard work. With dedicated coaches and outstanding facilities, the King’s School is passionate about inspiring the next generation of female athletes. We wish all our netballers success for the forthcoming season, and I am sure they will go from strength to strength."
Captain of the First Team, Bea Worlock, added: "We all put a huge amount of effort into developing our skills and are able to bring the experience that we gain in the external clubs back to our school sport. We’re looking forward to the regional rounds of the National Cup in November, which will be played at King’s."
Minnie Farooq summed the attitude of all the girls saying: "We all love playing the game, but as importantly we love the friendships we develop and the connections we make with other girls not only at King's but in our county and franchise squads."
